We welcome you to come enjoy some time in nature, hike the trails, say hello to our animals, and explore the coast! We have Goats, Sheep, Honey Bees, Chickens and Ducks, and hiking trails next to the ocean with amazing wildlife. PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS TO KEEP THEM HEALTHY. We respectfully request that you abide by the guidelines listed above, as well as read and follow the guidelines listed on any signage indicating restricted areas.

We thank you for your support!

We are located to the West of Mill Valley, between Muir Beach and Stinson Beach, within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, a unit of the National Park Service. Slide Ranch’s 134 acres of coastal land are open to individuals and families EVERYDAY from dawn to dusk for hiking, picnicking and self-guided visits. We have Goats, Sheep, Honey Bees, Chickens and Ducks and hiking trails next to the ocean with amazing wildlife. Free admission!

For group visits, please contact us in advance to coordinate and confirm whether parking will be available.

If you are coordinating a visit on behalf of a group of 6 or more (classes, schools, community groups, corporate groups, etc), please apply for a hands-on experience with our educators via our school and community group programs - so that we can best serve your participants and we can adequately manage our limited parking and other resources. These programs are offered for a sliding-scale fee, and no groups are turned away for lack of funds.

You are welcome to explore this beautiful farm on your own, but we ask that you refrain from entering all closed animal areas unless participating in a facilitated program with our staff.

Please drive slowly and attentively down our driveway and our parking lot. Please park vehicles close to one another.

Our organic garden is both a teaching tool for programs and a food source for the 18 staff and family members who live on the Ranch; although we encourage you to explore it, and know that it looks very appetizing, please don't harvest.

Dogs and all pets, camping, smoking and fires are strictly prohibited at Slide Ranch following GGNRA’s guidelines and for the health and safety of our residents, visitors, farm animals, and local wildlife. Service animals are permitted as directed by law.

Interested in camping at Slide? Learn more about special family campouts and glamping!

Please note that Slide Ranch does not have regular trash collection and does not offer trash receptacles to the public - please plan to pack out any waste you generate during your visit.

Although we encourage you to say hello to any staff members you encounter on site (we'll probably beat you to it!), please refrain from disturbing any of the private residences or residential facilities.

We have miles of trails and picnic areas throughout the site and two public outhouse facilities with hand washing stations nearby - it's a wonderful place for a walk and picnic overlooking the ocean! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Driving directions

We are located at 2025 Shoreline Highway (aka Hwy 1) in Muir Beach, CA 94965. Our location is North of the residential community of Muir Beach - about 1 mile North of the Muir Beach Overlook.

To reach Slide from Highway 1 North (approaching Slide from most locations including SF, most of Marin and points North, East Bay, South Bay, etc):

•   Take Highway 101 (Travel North over the Golden Gate Bridge from SF and the South Bay, travel West over the San Rafael Bridge and connect to 101 South from the East Bay and travel South on 101 from Marin and other points North), and take the Highway 1/Stinson Beach exit. Follow signs towards Highway 1, turning left onto Shoreline Highway, and staying to your left to continue on Highway 1 ("Shoreline Highway") at 3 splits that follow:

         a) Beyond the 7-11 at 371 Shoreline Highway, and before the intersection at Panoramic Highway, Highway 1 curves sharply to the left
at an intersection with Loring Avenue. Do not continue onto Loring Avenue - bear left at this Split to continue on Highway 1 (following
signs toward Stinson Beach and Muir Woods).

         b) Do NOT turn right at the Split with Panoramic Highway, Proceed to your left at this split to continue on Highway 1, "Shoreline Highway," following signs towards toward Muir Beach (not Muir Woods).

         c) After passing the Pelican Inn, approximately 2.5 miles before reaching Slide, you will encounter a split where Highway 1 curves to the left at an intersection with Muir Woods Road. Do NOT continue onto Muir Woods Road - bear left at this split to continue on Highway 1, towards and past the residential community of Muir Beach - we are located on Highway 1 ("Shoreline Highway") about 1 mile North of the Muir Beach Overlook.

•   Our entrance driveway and sign will be on your left, about 1 mile North of the Muir Beach Overlook, sloping downhill toward the coast.

To reach Slide from Highway 1 South (approaching Slide from further North in West Marin only - Stinson, Bolinas, Olema, etc…):

•   Proceed to Slide via Highway 1 South. Our entrance driveway will be on your right, sloping downhill toward the coast - please be mindful not to confuse our "exit" driveway, which you will encounter first - continue South to reach our marked entrance driveway. If you've reached the Muir Beach Overlook, you've missed us and traveled too far - turn around and retrace your way North about 1 mile to reach us.

We can't wait to see you at the ranch!

Please note that bus drivers approaching Slide for the first time are often nervous about our driveway, fearing that they may not be able to turn around. Reassure them that there is enough space to return to the highway by using our ample parking lot and separate exit driveway. Buses up to 36 feet long are permitted to travel on all routes to Slide Ranch.
