Slide Ranch has been planting kids in nature since 1970. We connect Bay Area children to sustainable farming and healthy eating, and inspire environmental stewardship through programs and camps on our 134 acres of coast lands in Marin, California.
Silver Trowel Award Dinner 2014
Thank you to everyone who attended our Silver Trowel Award Dinner on Thursday, October 23, at the San Francisco Film Centre.
Almost 200 supportive donors and sponsors enjoyed a night of gourmet food, top-flight wines, memorable entertainment and fabulous fundraising. It was our most successful Silver Trowel yet, measured by the fun, goodwill generated and the funds raised to support our programs
Heartfelt presentations helped set the evening’s tone and guests enjoyed music by Grammy Award Winner Billy Jean. This year’s Silver Trowel Award was given to General Superintendent of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Frank Dean, who gave a moving speech about the synergy and impact of the two organizations.
It was an incredible evening of vision and support. Thank you to everyone that contributed in any way.

A Bountiful Time at Harvest Celebration
Thank you to everyone that attended our Harvest Celebration on Saturday, October 11. It was a really fun and exciting day with lots of hands-on activities like spinning wool, making a mask, printing a patch, baking bread, planting garlic and more.
It was a wonderful day for all the family! Make sure to look out for our Spring Fling and Shear to Shawl family events in spring - we'll be confirming dates early in the new year.
Let's Plant Kids in Nature
Donate today and help a kid experience nature at Slide Ranch
Aaron visited Slide Ranch earlier this year with his school. After a jam-packed day at Slide Ranch (including getting over his fear of chickens!), he went home and wrote us a letter. We receive hundreds of letters from children each year.
To us, every letter is precious - it reaffirms that Slide Ranch has had an impact. We’ve awakened their curiosity and made a difference.
Only with the support of donors like you are we able to offer children from all communities the chance to experience the life-enhancing environmental education programs at Slide Ranch.
Subaru of America Foundation, Inc. Donates $10,000
We recently received a $10,000 grant from the Subaru of America Foundation, Inc. to support our School and Community Programs, to help connect San Francisco youth to the outdoors.
Subaru Zone Director, Steven A. Drew, and Zone Operations Specialist, Mason Delapp visited Slide Ranch on August 29 to present the check to our staff.
We are incredibly grateful for Subaru's generous support!
Read About One Mom's 28-year Slide Ranch Story
When Kin Davis was two years old, she moved with her family from Laos to the USA. Her family didn't have much money but when Kin was a child she visited Slide Ranch with her school as part of a subsidized trip funded by Slide Ranch donors. It left a lasting impression on her, and she credits her time here for helping her realize how much she loves nature. Earlier this year she returned to Slide Ranch with her family to enjoy a Family Campout.
Asked why she wanted to bring her Family back to Slide Ranch, Kin replied: "I wanted to share with them Slide Ranch and I wanted that experience to pour on them all at once. I wanted them to experience the same joy and excitement that I experienced."
