Each year, Slide Ranch selects emerging environmental educators to participate in the Slide Ranch Teacher-in-Residence program, a residential teaching internship. Slide Ranch’s Teacher-in-Residence program fosters and inspires environmental educators, preparing them for meaningful careers in the fields of education, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship. The annual internship begins with a three-week orientation and training beginning in late January. The summer internship begins with a two-week orientation beginning in late May. TIRs spend the remainder of their residency experiencing hands-on learning through teaching, organic gardening, animal care, land stewardship, and sustainable living, supported by ongoing professional development and mentoring. Interested in helping children connect with nature and growing your skills as an educator? Learn more and apply today. Applications for the 2018 annual internship are being accepted now, and interviews will begin in September 2017.
Are you a green thumb looking for a garden playground, or do you want to learn about sustainable, organic farming? Come volunteer in our seaside, one-acre garden. Our garden has two goals - high yield production to feed our residential staff and to act as an outdoor classroom for our 10,000 visitors. With a mix of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs, you'll have plenty to work on. Whether it's once a week or once a month, we are looking for volunteers who can make a regular commitment to the ranch. As a working ranch, Slide has a number of critters that need attention. We have sheep, goats, hens, ducks, and bees. We need help with everything from mucking out the barn to picking up feed to milking the goats at night. Our animal manager, Elena Sanchez-Corea, is incredibly knowledgeable and will show you the ropes of everything you need to know. Whether it's once a week or once a month, we are looking for volunteers who can make a regular commitment to the ranch. Click on the green button to the left to contact Elena.
