What's a sea anemone?
With their bright colors and daisy-like shape, sea anemones are the flowers of the sea. Despite their pretty looks, however, they are predatory animals, using their stinging tentacles to catch their prey.
Why is it called Slide Ranch?
Slide Ranch slides into the ocean approximately one inch every year! Most of the exposed rocks are Franciscan sediments which were laid down on the floor of the Pacific Ocean about 100 million years ago.
What is a ruminant?
An animal that has four stomachs, the largest being called the rumen. As wild animals they have little time to chew their food. Instead, they quickly chew and swallow the food into the rumen, which acts as a storage bin. Later, they can cough up and chew the cud. Goats, sheep, cows and deer are ruminants.
