During Junior Rancher's weeks, campers explore and learn about caring for all of the different parts of Slide Ranch: our goats and sheep, chickens, ducks and turkeys, garden, and the trails and coast. Through cooking, caring for animals, and other fun and meaningful activities campers will celebrate the land, and connect with our ranch environment and all the living things here.

During our Great Outdoors week we will channel our inner spirit of adventure to accomplish the 4 challenges (get dirty, try something new, have fun and make a new friend) and uncover secrets of the ranch. Campers will journey around the diverse areas of the ranch, from the tide pools to the pasture and everywhere in between, engaging in the process of discovery. Each area of the ranch will be a new adventure with a host of new experiences and inquiries. We'll delve into our land's history, learn basic land navigation, practice stewardship and honorable harvest, create art, delicious snacks and so much more!
Our Farm to Belly weeks will have campers exploring our connection the land, the food it provides, and how our food choices can help protect the spaces we treasure. Campers will practice organic farming, cook with farm products, and explore the idea of “food miles” and eating locally and seasonally. By exploring the diverse habitats that make up the Slide Ranch ecosystem, from the pasture to the tidepools, we will explore interconnectedness through food webs and energy cycle, and understand how past inhabitants of the land used it for food and survival. This week will be filled with daily cooking projects campers will get to enjoy that make the connection directly from our farm to their belly.

Pollinatorpalooza weeks we celebrate pollinators by delving into the interdependent relationships between plants and pollinators. Campers will learn about all different kinds of pollinators including butterflies, honeybees, hummingbirds, ants, beetles, bats, the wind, and humans! We will explore plant families, parts, and life cycles, gain a deeper understanding of seeds, and investigate the incredible, cooperative, honey-making honeybee community. On the trails, campers will make connections between cultivated and wild plants, and observe many different wild pollinators in action! This week will include tactile explorations, art projects, and some tasty seed cooking projects we can only make thanks to pollinators!
