Slide Ranch Visitor Guidelines
You are welcome to explore this beautiful farm on your own, but we ask that you refrain from entering all animal areas unless participating in a facilitated program with our staff. PLEASE DO NOT FEED ANY ANIMALS AT SLIDE RANCH. Our animals are well cared for and are on specific diets to best meet their individual needs. Food from the public can seriously harm our animals.
Areas Open to the General Public include: the Owl Trail, Tide Pool Trail and Tide Pools, the Dome Trail and Dome Meadow area, Area around the Pasture and Barnyard outside of all fences and gates, Yurt Picnic Area, Garden, visitor upper parking lot.
Please respect these additional guidelines during your visit:
Our Residential Village and residential/staff lower parking (passed the gate) are always closed to the public.
Please drive slowly and attentively down our driveway and when entering our parking lot. Park vehicles close to one another.
Our organic garden is both a teaching tool for programs and a food source for the staff and family members who live on the Ranch; although we encourage you to explore it, and know that it looks very appetizing, please don't harvest.
Dogs and all pets, smoking and fires are strictly prohibited at Slide Ranch following GGNRA’s guidelines and for the health and safety of our residents, visitors, farm animals, and local wildlife. Service animals are permitted as directed by law but must remain on leash.
Camping is only permitted at our Dome campsite and requires advanced reservations through hipcamp.
Buildings on Slide Ranch are not open to the public.
Never enter an animal enclosure unless a Slide Ranch staff member is present and has specifically invited you in, even if the gates are open. We have miles of trails and picnic areas throughout the site and two public outhouse facilities with hand washing stations nearby - it's a wonderful place for a walk and picnic overlooking the ocean!
Although we encourage you to say hello to any staff members you encounter on site (we'll probably beat you to it!), please refrain from disturbing any private residences or residential facilities.
Please note Slide Ranch does not have regular trash collection and does not offer trash receptacles to the public - please plan to pack out any waste you generate during your visit. Practice Leave No Trace principles.
We suggest everyone check for ticks after visiting any open space in Marin, including Slide Ranch. Find more information on ticks here.
We look forward to seeing you soon! Thank you for your support!
Looking for a more hands-on visit? Book a program. School groups, community groups, corporate groups, etc, are all welcome to book a program with us. Our programs are offered for a sliding-scale fee. No groups are turned away for lack of funds.
