Join us for a family friendly monthly Volunteer Workday.

The contribution volunteers make at Slide Ranch truly helps us deliver our mission! Whether you're a student fulfilling community service hours or someone who wants to put your green thumb to good use, Slide Ranch provides challenging, engaging and meaningful experiences. All minors 17 years and under must be accompanied by a participating adult. 

Please wear layered clothing that can get dirty and closed toed shoes. Volunteer Days are held RAIN OR SHINE, so dress accordingly! Remember to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Feel free to bring snacks or a lunch for a picnic afterwards. Bring your own work gloves if you have them.

What to expect: You'll work under the supervision of Slide Ranch staff on our teaching farm and 134 acres of wild lands, contributing to Slide Ranch in whatever area has the greatest need that day.

Join us outside at Slide Ranch as we hike the site and make our own natural watercolor pigments as we go! In this workshop, you will learn a creative approach and method to making watercolor pigments while in the field–learning how to successfully extract pigment, bind paint, and alter colors with iron or alum—actively engaging with our environment in a creative, exciting way. Pause for moments of reflection and painting along the way, as you begin to fill your new nature journal with the hues of foraged plants!

Slide Ranch's Family Farm Day is an exciting 3.5-hour program, 9:30am-1:00pm, featuring goat milking.

Join us in this creative day crafting with the wool from our Slide Ranch sheep and create an indigo tie dye memento. Sheep shearing at 11am!

Extend your visit by adding a night of camping under the stars!

Celebrate the season as flowers blossom and nature comes alive. Activities may include flower crowns, nature bracelets, nature journaling. All materials provided by Slide Ranch.

Explore how geologic history has shaped the Slide Ranch of today. As we tour the site, we will engage with a walk through time, meet the wild and "wacke" rocks under our feet, and see how 55 years of organic farming practices have enriched our natural soil.

Morning Bird Walk

Mindful slow birding is a different take on classic birding that allows us to truly take in and appreciate our surrounding environment. Birds are by far the species we interact with most in our daily lives. Developing naturalist skills focused on observing habitat, behavior, sounds, etc. advances our relationship with nature. Hone your appreciation for the outdoors through a birding lens here at Slide Ranch! Bring your own binoculars if you have them.

Celebrate the women in your life with a joyful day at Slide Ranch filled with nature, nurturing activities, and meaningful family moments! Activities: We'll be making flower crowns, felting beads and bracelets, painting with watercolors, and baking herb cookies.

Come enjoy Slide Ranch early and camp under the stars Friday evening!

We’ll start with a happy hour on the bluffs, where you can sip local wine or a seasonal cocktail, enjoy farm-fresh bites, and take in sweeping ocean views accompanied by the serenade of live music floating over the Pacific  

As conversation flows and the evening light softens, we’ll gather in our Farm to Table Teaching Center, overlooking the Pacific and alive with spring florals. Chef Lily will prepare a vibrant, multi-course meal that celebrates the flavors of the season - featuring wine pairings and fresh produce from our gardens plus ingredients sourced from local farms.

With just 30 seats at the table, this special evening invites you to slow down, savor the bounty of early spring, and share in the spirit of Slide Ranch.
