Meet a few of our Teen Interns
Today, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on some of Slide Ranch’s incredible interns! These local high school students bring passion, curiosity, and a can-do attitude to every aspect of our ranch. They are truly essential members of our team, rolling up their sleeves to take on everything from barn mucking and prepping garden beds to wool washing and farm photography. It’s all about getting their hands dirty (literally) while discovering what it takes to keep a place like Slide Ranch running smoothly. Keep reading to learn a bit more about our fantastic interns and why they’ve opted to spend their time here at Slide Ranch.
Emilia: I have always loved animals since I was little, I would work with different barns throughout my childhood to be able to ride horses and take care of the animals. I have also developed a love for the environment through school and have been finding different ways to be eco-friendly, so when researching internships I knew this would be the perfect fit for me since it combines my two interests! Slide Ranch also allows me to unplug after long school days and channel my energy into learning about nature.
Hi, I am Olivia! I am an intern at Slide Ranch this year and it has been so much fun! At the Marin School of Environmental Leadership within Terra Linda High, we are instructed to find an internship that you find fun and interesting. I joined the Slide Ranch team as an extra helping hand around the facility. I have worked with the goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, and helped with maintenance in the garden. It has been a super great experience getting to know the group of people who work the ranch and learning about all the amazing sustainable practices they execute. Jessa: Hi I’m Jessa and I’m a senior in high school. My favorite part about Slide Ranch is the varietyof animals and the proximity to the ocean. I’m looking to major in biology, but I’m also interested in culinary arts and environmental science. June: Hi I’m June and I’m a senior in high school. I am passionate about trying to improve the environmental state of the Earth. When I go off to college I hope to major in sustainable agriculture.
These young people represent the next generation of environmental stewards, and we couldn’t be prouder to have them as part of the Slide Ranch family. Thank you to our interns for your dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm. The ranch wouldn’t be the same without you!
