Slide Ranch Summer Camp - Junior Farmers

August 3-7, 2015

Please let us know your thoughts about your week of camp by filling out our online camp evaluation form. Your feedback and suggestions are very important to us and will help us continually improve our programs!

Thank you for sharing your children with Slide Ranch!

We loved having them here and want to share some of the highlights and photos of all that we did together.

Camp Journal

This week Junior Farmers explored the theme of seeds!

Camp groups investigated plant families and life cycles and also made seed balls. Salve-making with beeswax and garden herb infused oils  was another way that campers celebrated the power of plants!

One group made pizza completely from scratch, including harvesting, threshing, winnowing and grinding wheat from the Slide Ranch garden. Campers also made herbed popcorn, lemon poppy seed cookies, and seed art. Other tasty cooking projects included making homemade bread, French fries from freshly dug potatoes and blackberry galettes.

At the beach, campers explored the wonders of the tidepools and collected clay to make sculptures and beads. Some lucky campers even got to see a dolphin breach completely out of the water!

Campers milked and cared for the goats and chickens. They created scavenger hunts for other groups and explored this magical length of coastal scrubland, from the Fennel Forest to the Lone Cypress.

A big thank you to all the campers and everyone at Slide Ranch for being such good stewards of the land and animals! We hope that every child has special memories of Slide Ranch and the things they learned here.

We hope to see you at one of our upcoming family programs and festivals for a day of family fun or even to volunteer.

The Slide Ranch Camp Team

Did you know that every program at Slide Ranch is subsidized by donations?

Your gift of any size directly supports our education programs so that all Bay Area children may have equal access to nature education.

You can also show your love of Slide Ranch by purchasing a custom t-shirt adorned with one of our beloved animals! Each purchase donates $25 to feed and care for Slide Ranch's animals.
